Fresh Meat Review: Terrifier 3

Terrifier 3 (2024)

Directed by: Damien Leone

Wow! Art is back and he has brought some Christmas cheer this time around!

In my personal opinion this was the most anticipated horror film of the year, and I feared that the third installment wouldn’t live up to the hype. Its predecessor, Terrifier 2 really set the bar high back in 2022 and put Art the clown on a path destined to become a horror villain legend. One major thing I was looking forward to this time around was the continuation of the story we got introduced to in the sequel. Why did Art come back alive? whats the deal with the little pale girl? whats the deal with sienna's dad?

Although we don’t get all the answers we want with this film, we do get some. And thanks to writer/director Damien Leone's announcement of a Terrifier 4 on the way, it seems he left just enough unanswered questions to keep us coming back for more.

I was really happy to see the return of our survivor characters from the last film. Once again Lauren LaVera did an amazing job playing a very broken and paranoid final girl, Sienna Shaw. I agree with the masses that she has a very bright future in horror.

Elliott Fullam did a good job bringing Sienna's younger brother Jonathan back to the screen, but I would liked to have seen his characters path written different. I was kinda hoping Jonathan would rise to the occasion in this one and be a stronger ally to Sienna. David Howard Thorton, who notoriously plays Art the clown, absolutely steals the show in the third installment. The fact that he portrays Art's emotions so perfectly that the audience doesn’t need him to speak a single word, just shows how much he is a master of his craft and how much of Art's antics are woven into Mr. Thorton's own personality.

The story is good, the kills are amazing, but Art and David Howard Thorton is what keeps us coming back.

I truly enjoyed this film and was not disappointed. Although I still prefer Terrifier 2 over 3, that doesn’t necessarily mean this film is inferior at all. Its a great time and totally lives up to the Terrifier name. I’m already counting down the days for the next one!
